On self-mutilation
"The truth about childhood is stored up in our body and lives in the depth of our soul. Our intellect can be deceived, our feelings can be numbed and manipulated, our perception shamed and confused, our bodies tricked with medication. But our soul never forgets. And because we are one, one whole soul in one body, someday our body will present its bill."

Change and resistance
"Why are you drinking?" demanded the little prince.
"So that I may forget," replied the tippler.
"Forget what?" inquired the little prince, who already was sorry for him.
"Forget that I am ashamed," the tippler confessed, hanging his head.
"Ashamed of what?" insited the little prince, who wanted to help.
"Ashamed of drinking!" The tippler brought his speech to an end, and shut himself up in an impregnable silence.
And the little prince wnet away puzzled.
"The grown-ups are certianly very, very odd," he said to himself.
-Antoine e Saint-Exupery, The Little Prince

quotes
While reading the class materials, I found that each chapter has a quote. It's encouraging me.
"Anyone who willingly enters into the pain of a stranger is truely a remarkable person."
-Henri J. M. Nouwen, In Memoriam
"If you treat an individual as he is, he will stay as he is, but if you treat him as if he were what he ought to be and could be, he will become what he ought to be and could be."
-Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Things I have done today,,
I got up so early without any intentions. I went to bed after 11 pm,,,almost midnight, but got up that early,,even before 5 in the morning. I don't know what's keeping me awake. Had a cup of espresso. I didn't have much stuff to cook, so,,,I couldn't eat what I wanted to eat this morning but just a bowl of cooked rice and miso soup. And,,,I watched "Frida," and once againt I enjoyed watching it. Um,,,suddenly my eyes welled up thinking about myself and current situations. In the middle of it, I just got in the mood for an exhibition of paintings at the Whitney. I just showered and got there.
It was really fun there. I'm not a big fan of Pablo Piccaso, but there was an exhibition of his works. And,,the artist Kiki somebody..whatever the name was, has an exhibition with her works. Edward Hopper's exhibition is still going on. I saw his art works right after I came to NYC before my school actually got started. His work always suggests something that's in everyone's mind. Um,,many things there are that I want to talk about..
Then, I went straight to school to take today's classes. Surprise, I used to leave after the first one, but I stayed for the whole two classes today by being pushed by one of my classmates. Well, she wanted me to stay for the discussion of our next week's presentation in class.
I've had a terrible headache today throughout....I wanted to cut my head off,, really.
